Conducted in line with the BREEAM International New Construction 2016 requirements, the evaluation reviewed user satisfaction, actual energy and water consumption, as well as the building’s operational performance.
The analysis of actual annual energy consumption showed that the building performed below the forecast levels across all main energy categories. Annual electricity consumption was approximately 1.31 million kWh, compared with a forecast of around 1.62 million kWh. Heat consumption amounted to approximately 590,000 kWh, against a forecast of around 841,000 kWh, while cooling consumption was approximately 63,000 kWh, compared with the projected 103,000 kWh. Overall water consumption also remained significantly below forecast levels, demonstrating the effectiveness of the building’s water-saving solutions.
BIM was also used throughout the design and construction process, enabling more precise coordination and greater efficiency at every stage of the project.
Baltic Cargo Hub has also received other awards and is nominated in two categories of the “Best Building of the Year in Latvia” competition: “BIM Object” and “Production Building.”
This achievement is a shared success for everyone involved in the project and a great example of what can be accomplished through thoughtful solutions, and professional and strong teamwork.
