Laflora Energy is a wind farm, located in the former peat extraction area of the Kaigu Bog in Jelgava Municipality.The construction phase of the project is approaching completion, and it will become a significant factor in strengthening Latvia’s energy independence.
As part of the project, a wind farm has been developed while simultaneously reclaiming the Kaigu Bog area. The park includes 16 Nordex wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 108.8 MW.
The height of the wind turbines, reaching up to 266.5 metres at the highest blade tip, is comparable to the height of two towers of St. Peter’s Church.
The wind farm is expected to generate more than 350 GWh of electricity annually, accounting for approximately 5% of Latvia’s total annual electricity consumption.
