Frederik Selmers vei 2 office building in Oslo, Norway is a project where detailed time planning and close collaboartion have played a pivotal role.
UPB was initially assigned to deliver framework structures and later entrusted with the façade package as well. Since framework design was already underway, we had to act quickly to integrate the façade into the structural concept - ensuring seamless execution and coherence from the start.
One of the client’s requests was a façade mock-up, and given the tight timeframe, that was quite challenging. In just four months, we had to finalize the design, coordinate with all involved parties, and order materials for production. This required rapid design development and close alignment with the ongoing structural work.
Despite the tight schedule, we also had to meet ambitious sustainability targets, including a defined CO₂ emissions cap for the façades. We not only met the target — the latest calculations indicate we’ll reduce it by an additional 7%. Achieving this required careful material selection and close coordination with suppliers, including producers of thermal insulation and sheet materials. In this project we used WICONA Circal 75R profiles, made with at least 75% recycled aluminium.
Time-sensitive projects like this highlight the strength of in-house collaboration and benefits of a single supplier for both the framework and façade. With both scopes under one roof, we streamlined communication, resolved issues efficiently, and kept the project on track.
