UPB — National Winner of the Import/Export Category in one of the European Top Competitions

The UPB Holding, one of the leading groups of companies in Latvia, has become the Latvian national winner of the prestigious “European Business Awards 2014/2015” (EBA) in the category “Import/Export”.

The winner of the first stage (national competition) was chosen after a thorough analysis of the financial data and reports submitted by national companies.

UPB, as the winner of the national level competition, will participate in the further stages of European scale. There, in-depth information about the company, submitted upon an individual request, and a special video presentation will be evaluated.
This year UPB was invited to participate in “European Business Awards” repeatedly. In the closing ceremony of “European Business Awards 2011” in Barcelona, UPB received Ruban d’Honneur award and a medal in the category “Import/Export”.

This year 15 000 companies from 30 countries altogether took part in the competition. Finalists were evaluated in 11 categories, and among the participants one could meet such well-known companies as “Pirelli”, “RTL”, “DHL”, “IKEA Italia”, etc.

Last year Chair of Board of UPB Uldis Pīlēns was invited to participate in the jury, which consisted of the leading European politicians, academicians, field experts, and mass media representatives.

The broadest entrepreneurship award programme in Europe “European Business Awards” is an independent award programme, which was established to promote excellence, good practices, and innovations in the European business environment. The best European companies are awarded, taking into account their field of activities and capacity. Only bright and innovative companies showing the best entrepreneurial practice are given the honour to receive these awards. EBA general sponsor is “RSM International”.

UPB successfully operates both in Latvian and foreign markets already for 23 years. The holding’s main activities are design, manufacturing, construction, and trade. Las year UPB received also the grand prix “Export Champion 2013” in the competition “Export and Innovation Awards 2013” organised by the Ministry of Economics and Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.
