UPB Design&Build project track and field arena - The Most Energy Efficient Public Building in Latvia 2019

On June 20th the winners of The Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia 2019 competition were awarded in an official ceremony. The winner in the Public Building nomination was the track and field arena of the Liepāja Olympic Centre designed and built by UPB.

The building relies on an efficient ventilation system that regulates temperature according to weather and utilised capacity. The lighting is also regulated automatically with motion sensors and timers. Due to the good air permeability results, the arena is on par with sustainable Scandinavian buildings.

UPB is experienced in the construction of so-called “green” buildings, with 58% of the company’s portfolio consisting of sustainable and energy efficient projects. As one of the largest construction companies in the Baltics, we care about our impact both on the environment and on the parties involved in our operations.

Organised for the ninth year by the Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, and the Būvinženieris magazine, The Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia 2019 competition had 27 applicants.

We thank all involved parties for their contribution and work!
