When carrying out construction works in modern day, densely built areas, as well as in areas with high land value, one of the main challenges is to use the building area as efficiently as possible and to increase the useful area, while at the same time complying with all energy efficiency requirements.
In order to tackle this construction industry challenge, MB Betons group has created a special type of high performance fibre-reinforced concrete that enables reducing the outer layer of 3-layer precast reinforced concrete elements. This layer is made from composite fibres that allow the material to sustain resistance against external environment conditions, as well as against impacts made by transportation and assembly.
Thanks to the newly created material, the outer layer of the 3-layer reinforced concrete elements has been reduced by more than 50% (from 75 mm to 35 mm), which in its turn enables reducing the total thickness of the facade wall by 9%, increasing the useful area of a room by 1.2%. The reduction of dead weight of the element makes it possible to choose more efficient construction solutions in the design process, thus creating a synergistic effect.
Since the innovative 3-layer precast reinforced concrete elements are ready to use without any extra processing, they are an important part of the building’s design and are available in nearly every colour!
