Olivin

The new Skanska development, Olivin, is a prime example of sustainability and circularity, where UPB’s in-depth knowledge of engineering and construction helped reduce CO₂ emissions by 30% and successfully integrate reused structural elements into the building.

Through early involvement, we optimized building structural design and reduced emissions from an initial 139 kg CO₂/m² to 99 kg CO₂/m². However, sourcing elements for reuse raised more questions than answers:

  • Where do you find structural elements that fit for reuse?
  • Who verifies their quality?
  • How do you cut them to size without compromising their integrity?

With no established industry standards or supply chain to rely on, our team tackled these challenges head-on.
