| 06. 09. 2014 | Member of the UPB energy powerboat team finishes second in the European Championship

At the beginning of September in Nottingham, the United Kingdom, a race by the Union Internationale Motonautique took place – European Championship in Class GT15. UPB energy sports team was represented by one of its youngest drivers – the 11-year-old Uvis Lazarenoks, who finished second in total.


There were 16 pilots from 5 countries participating in the race. On Day 1 of the race, during the first two stages, Uvis Lazarenoks ranked first leaving no doubt behind. However, Day 2 of the race was less successful for him – he was disqualified from the third stage and ranked fifth in the fourth stage, which ensured Uvis a stable second place in total.


On the way to the European Championship Uvis Lazarenoks and his team had anticipated to participate also in the prestigious international race organised by the ADAC in Berlin, Germany. According to German rules in order to participate in the race additional kilograms are needed for the boat weight, which is a safety rule in Germany. The technicians of the team successfully rebuilt the boat and Uvis Lazarenoks was admitted to the race, ranking first.
