On 30 August 2014 the last leg of the Latvian Open Championship took place in Liepāja. The toughest competition of the race was among the youth Class JT250 with 9 drivers. First place in this class was awarded to the UPB energy team member Niklāvs Parolis, while another team member Kristers Einiņš ranked fifth. Roberts Smirnovs finished first in the Class OSY400. Oļegs Kutepovs driving a boat of Class O350 and the final race of his 55 years long career history, finished first, thus ending his career with a remarkable result.
Another UPB team members stepped on the pedestal – Ēriks Ķiepe Kipge and Mārtiņš Morozs in the Class O350, Raimonds Špacs in the Class S550, Gints Puriņš in the Class RN2000, while Māris Vasiļevskis had to withdraw during the third stage and thus he finished fifth in total. Oļegs Sintnieks finished second in Class T550, and this was his first season in the Team UPB energy. Third place in Class GT15 was awarded to the youngest team member – Ralfs Parolis, who drives for the team for the first season. This was also the first race for Māris Mors, and he ranked third in Class S550. Māris is actually the manager of the Team UPB energy.
In general this was a successful season for the Team UPB energy. Mārtiņš Bergholcs ranked first in the European Championship, Class S550. Uvis Lazarenoks in Class GT15 finished second, and Niklāvs Parolis in Class JT250 ranked third. Team UPB energy members Mārtiņš Morozs and Mārtiņš Bergholcs representing Akvashelf racing team ranked third in the endurance RIB race at the World Championship. The yearly results demonstrate that Team UPB energy ranked second among the teams of Latvia, giving in only to the team from Bauska – Mēmeles sports.
