On 1 June this year World Championship in GT15 powerboats class was held in Czech Republic. In total 11 sportsmen from 5 different countries – Latvia, Estonia, Great Britain, Sweden and Norway – took part in the race.
Latvia was represented by UPB Energy powerboat team member Uvis Lazarenoks, who earned 5th place in overall results after the referees’ ruling. The 1st place was secured by Eevardi Gregor from Estonia, leaving Suuk Rene (Estonia) in 2nd place. The 3rd place was won by Arand Stefan (Estonia) and 4th by Jelf Ben from Great Britain.
Uvis Lazarenoks has been racing for UPB Energy team since 2013, when he reached the age necessary for taking part in powerboat championship. Even though the young man’s racing experience is not substantial, the results delivered are astonishing. Uvis has been associated with powerboat racing since his birth, being the third generation in his family that is pursuing power boating. His grandfather Ādolfs Lazarenoks was manager of Liepājas Sarkanais Metalurgs powerboat section. His father Janeks Lazarenoks used to race for UPB Energy team in O500 powerboat class.
