| 25. 02. 2009 | Upb AS GmbH has opened its branch in Liestal, Switzerland
UPB Energy, a subsidiary of the Latvian construction concern, has opened a new branch in Switzerland. Thus, an expected rapid growth in the power sector in Europe and in particular in Switzerland is considered. The use of recyclable power resources has been enhanced worldwide, thus reducing the consumption of fossil energy and, in particular, the consumption of nuclear power and a special emphasis is laid on de-centralized power generation.
UPB Energy with its headquarters in Berlin, being a successor of the German company MENAG, for years has been engaged in the manufacturing of natural gas operated cogeneration plants, and, in particular, biogas operated cogeneration plants. Cogeneration plants have power ranging between 50 and 300 kW of electric power. By opening the branch in Switzerland, the company offers now includes a new product – turn-key equipment. General contractor’s services, including related engineering works that UPB specializes in, are now offered in the energy sector as well.
Switzerland’s office is run by Adrian Jaquiéry, an executive director. Mr. Adrian Jaquiéry is an internationally recognized authority in the sector of decentralized power generation with profound specialized knowledge. Under his guidance, several large stations with gas-engines have been successfully created in Switzerland, Italy, Germany and France. In the period between 1996 and 2002, Mr. Adrian Jaquiéry was a German Engineering Union VDI member in the VKMA workgroup dealing with gas-engines. Over six years, he has been the president of the Swiss Association for Combined Heat and Power Systems.
Our Swiss branch will take care of both large-scale equipment and the servicing of cogeneration stations supplied by it both in Switzerland and in the neighbouring countries. It also includes the establishment of a broad network of services. For the purpose of this assignment, the Swiss branch may rely on the support that it will receive from the successfully operating UPB Energy German service centres in Berlin and Leingarten. UPB Energy service centres now supervise approximately 150 cogeneration stations, the task earlier taken care of by the MENAG company. The spare parts warehouse network and competent experts take care of the clients’ satisfaction and high performance of cogeneration stations.
